A Word (or two) about... Ending and Beginning

As our view is pulled to the horizon of the upcoming year, it is tempting to lose sight of what has passed, of what we have completed and/or successfully let go of. Taking a moment to review and rejoice in the realization of our dreams and intentions, large and small, enriches our experience of them.

More than patting ourselves on the back, when we pause to gaze down the mountain upon which we are climbing, we notice how our view has expanded. We notice from a new angle how steep that turn really was, and how diligent we had to be to get to where we now stand. Maybe it was a job loss that turned out to be liberating in surprising ways. Maybe it was a diagnosis that led us to a greater understanding of ourselves and others. Maybe it was a conscious risk that reminded us of how big and abundant this Universe really is.

Maybe is was simply holding to our intention to be better to our physical bodies, and here, at year's end, we gaze back and acknowledge that we did a good job taking care of ourselves this year.

Whatever it might be, regard yourself and your life by acknowledging how you have expanded, what you have completed, and what you have contributed. In this way, you will be freer, lighter, and ready to answer the invitation of this New Year.
